چکیده

Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequent in women globally and main cause of cancer-related mortality. MTHFR C677T a functional polymorphism genes encoding one-carbon metabolism enzyme that affect folate may be associated with breast susceptibility. We have conducted case-control study taking 100 cases diagnosed healthy control. PCR-RFLP technique was used to detect genotype population. About 35% had normal genotype(C677C), 49% & rest 16% T677T for MTHFR. Among control frequency C677C 55% 40% 5%. were more common case as compared [χ2 (2, N = 200) 11.12, p 0.004]. T allele significantly higher (40%) (5%) (1, 400) 10.91, 0.001]. Cases 677TT risk BC than 677CC individual [OR=1.64 (1.03 2.10)] increasing T-allele significant [OR=1.07 (0.71 1.33)] (P trend 0.04). gene has strong correlation studied population can prognostic marker development cancer.

Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) C677T polymorphism in psoriasis in southern Turkey*

Background: Psoriasis is a multigenic and multifactorial dermatological disease linked to cardiovascular diseases. Increased levels of homocysteine in patients with psoriasis have been demonstrated in many studies. The most frequently investigated genetic defect that plays a role in homocysteine metabolism is single point substitution (C to T) located on the 677th nucleotide of the methylenetet...

Evaluation of the Association between the C677T Polymorphism of Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase Gene and Recurrent Spontaneous Abortion

Introduction: One factor known to cause thrombophilia in women with unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) is C677T polymorphism of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase gene. This study aimed to determine the association between RSA and MTHFR C677T polymorphism in Iranian patients. Methods: In this case-control study, 30 patients with previous history of two or more consecutive unexpla...

Association of the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) C677T polymorphism with primary glaucoma in Saudi population

BACKGROUND Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR), a critical enzyme in folate metabolism is involved in DNA synthesis, DNA repair and DNA methylation. The functional polymorphism of MTHFR gene, C677T has been shown to impact various diseases and implicated as a risk factor for the development of various neurodegenerative disorders including glaucoma. METHODS We investigated MTHFR C677T ...

Risk of colorectal cancer associated with the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) C677T polymorphism in the Kashmiri population.

Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) is a critical enzyme in folate metabolism and is involved in DNA synthesis, DNA repair and DNA methylation. The two common functional polymorphisms of MTHFR, 677 C→T and 1298 A→C, have been shown to impact various diseases, including cancer. The 677 C→T polymorphism has been widely investigated in different cancers and has been implicated as a risk fa...
